We’re back with another fresh round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, a new sales report for US Mint products shows an increase for numismatic gold and platinum coins. Also, the conclusion of sales for 2010 annual sets, hash marks on Silver Eagles, dollar coin suspension, NGC First Releases, early half eagles, gold and silver price predictions, 2012 bullion coins, the year in review, and notable auctions. The latest report of US Mint numismatic product sales shows gains for gold and platinum coins, following recent price decreases.

Sales of 2010-dated annual sets are scheduled to conclude sales tomorrow. The 2010 Proof Set and 2010 Mint Set are poised to have the lowest mintages in decades.

More “hash marks” have been found on the tail feather of Silver Eagles. Previously, some had believed this to be a distinguishing characteristic for the bullion coins included in the 25th Anniversary Sets.

An article from Beth Deisher on the dollar coin production suspension, citing the potentially greater savings from eliminating the $1 note.

NGC has announced the availability of the “First Releases” designation, which seems to carry the essentially same requirements as the “Early Releases” designation, which will still be available.

An article from TheStreet.com on Eric Sprott, who is very bullish on silver. The article indicates that his flagship fund has 25% in silver bullion and 15% in silver equities.

The 2012-dated Gold and Silver Eagle bullion coins will be available for ordering by authorized purchasers on January 3, 2012. Remaining inventories of 2011-dated coins will be available at a discount or required to be ordered on a ratio basis.
